Joyce Ward, whose h. prob. came not to N. E. and by the old lady's will, 15 Nov. 1640, pro. 4 Mar. foll, naming s. Edward, left in Eng. Anthony, William, Robert, and John here, I presume this was her only d. She writes, that Mr. Wollerslove of Clipsham, Co. Rutland, was her atty. to receive money, and makes F. her s.-in-law, excor. See Trumbull, Coll. Rec. I. 451. He rem. to Milford, and had after liv. there two yrs. join, the ch. 1641, in wh. yr. his d. Sarah was bapt. Hoadly, editor, Records of the Colony or Jurisdiction of New Haven From May, 1653, to the Union (Hartford: Case, Lockwood and Company, 1858), 427, from Court of Magistrates 16 Oct 1661, at which John Fletcher of Milford presented three oaths (his, his wife Mary's, and her brother John's): "Know all men whom it may concerne yt I, John Fletcher, of Milford, in ye colony of New Hauen in New England, aged about fifty nine yeares, doe vpon my certaine knowledge testify vpon oath, that when as I dwelt in England, neare to one Henry Bacon & William Bacon, brother to ye sayd Henry Bacon, and I neuer heard or knew any more of them yt were their owne brethren by the fathers side, and they dwelt when I first knew them, in Stretton, in the county of Rutland, within ye realme of England, & afterwards I knew Henry Bacon when he was remoued to Clipsam in ye same countye of Rutland aforesayd ; and I doe testifye yt I knew the sayd Henry Bacon brother to the sayd Willm Bacon had one only sone, called Thomas Bacon, well knowne to mee for ye space of six or seuen yeares, and I haue heard it reported that he went to liue at ye Barbadoes & there died ; and further I the abouesayd John Fletcher doe testify, yt' I doe well know yt ye ahoue sayd Willm Bacon, brother to ye sayd Henry Bacon, had a sone called Nathaniell Bacon, whoe was his eldest sone, whoe now liueth in New England and was p'sent at my testifieing hereof, and farther sayth not.

    Imprs. I give to foure of my sonnes, that is to say, Anthony Ward, to Willie Ward, Robert Ward, & John Ward, ech of the a pare of sheets, and to my eldest sonne Edward, I give unto him twelve pence of mony; furthermore, I make my sonne in law John Flecher my whole and sole Executor, to pay and discharge all those debts, legaces wch I am bownd to prforme, and for to see my body brought to the ground in a decent manner. Memorand : that I, Joyce Ward, have left my sonne Roberts portion wch his father gave him, wch is (£20) twenty pound, in England, in the hands of my sonne Edward Ward ; I have made Mr. Wollersloue. of Clipsum, in England, in the County of Rutland, my Atturny, for to receave yt for my vse ; if he have gott yt there, my son Robert shall have the whole twenty pound ; but if yt be not gotten, then the six pound wch I paid for the putting out of the saide Robert Ward to Apprentice, shall be prte of that twenty pound.
