It contains a record, in his own handwriting, of his birth and the births of his children, and this record he prefaces thus: “ Anno Domini, 1760, in November, copied out of Erasmus of Rotterdam into this Bible."
In the old family burying grounds, on the farm, and in sight of the homestead, are found the graves of not less than four Christopher Hooglands, who, in succession, have been the owners of this farm. One memorial stone has inscriptions on both sides as follows:
    The Graves of
    CHRISTOFFEL HOUGHLANDT,
    Born I699, Died I777,
    And WIFE
Graves are but the prints of the footsteps of
    the Angel of Eternal Life.

    The Grave of
    CHRISTOPHER HOAGLAND,
    Born 1727. Died 1805,
    and wife,
    SARAH VOORHEES, died 1813.
