With this view she paid for him a cabin passage to this country, but the captain of the vessel violated his trust, and landing at a sea-port in Massachusetts, he, in accordance with a custom then somewhat prevalent, sold the boy, or his services, until he became of age, ostensibly to pay for his passage."
