    p. 18 ff gives the names of the earliest settlers as Richard Ellis (immigrant from Ireland), Thomas Phillips (whose sister was the wife of Ellis) and family (from Easton), Chilcalb Smith and family (from South Hadley); then Dea. Ebenezer Belding and Samuel Belding (from Deerfield).
    p. 57: "Those who came here did not often settle on the lots drawn by their relatives." As the veterans of King William's War in 1690 were now (in the 1739) aged, their lots were drawn by relatives or (if they were deceased) their heirs.
    Among the "Proprietors" at the drawing of lots (which took place in Weymouth) were Capt. John Phillips (for his father Richard), drawing Lot 13, and in his own right drawing Lot 6; Joshua Phillips "For his Father Joshua viz in his Joseph" [sic], Lot 46; Joseph Drake "for Wm Drake viz in his Right, Lot 60.
