"The death of Thomas Murray, St., one of the most widely known and highly respected old settlers of Monroe county occurred at his home one mile south of Tyrone after an intermittent illness extending over many months. He was born in Dublin, Ireland in the year 1815 and was 93 years of age at the time or his demise. He came to America in 1847 and located for a short time in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1853 he was married to Miss Catherine Coady and located on his present farm south of Tyrone. He leaves surviving him, to mourn his loss, beside his aged wife, the following children, all of whom are grown to man and womanhood. J. H. of Knoxville; T. P. and W. P. of Melrose; R. H. of O'Neill, Neb.; Martin and E. H. who reside near Tyrone, and P. B. who is located in Seattle, Wash., also Mrs. John Coughlin and Mrs. Henry McCarty who reside in Monroe county. The funeral, which was one of the largest ever witnessed in Georgetown, was held Monday, December 28."
