Re: the marriage of Patricia and Jacob. According to Robert Barnes's Baltimore County Familes (611-612), Nathaniel Stinchcomb married "Patience Rowles on 15 Jan. 1733; she was the wid. of (---) Rowles and her maiden name was Burle;" and also that, in 1750, Nathaniel's estate was administrated "by Patience, now w. of Jacob Rowles." Patience had, in 1748, posted administrative bond as Patience Stinchcomb.
In "Baltimore County Marriage References" by Robert Barnes (The Notebook of the Baltimore County Genealogical Society, No. 1), Barnes reports a marriage referenced in Baltimore County Deed Book AL#D, folio 257, "Rowles, Jacob, married by 14 January 1722, Patience, widow of Nathaniel Stinchcomb."
Finally, in The Notebook (1990, 49:3), also "gleaned" from Baltimore Land Record (AL#D, folio 257), "Rowles , Jacob, m. by 14 Jan. 1772 Patience, widow of Nathaniel Stinchcomb." This must be a typographical error, 1772 for 1722.
The conclusion must be that the 1723 marriage record date is accurate, that it was Patience's first marriage and the reference by Barnes to the 1750 estate record and 1772 marriage are unexplained.2,1,3
