Frederick Jans had first come to New Amsterdam and was there first on 30 May 1641 when he sued Claes Sybrantsen Veringh for wages earned in making a canoe which had been delivered to Claes. He was in Brazil (Pernambuco) in the mid-1640s when he and wife Griteien Jans bp. their first child, Anna, at the Dutch Reformed Church there on 16 Dec. 1646]

According to the baptismal transcripts in "Doopregister der Hollanders in Brazilie 1633-1654" by CJ Wasch, the bpt of the child Anna occurred on 18th Dec. 1646, not the 16th. The entry reads:
Anna. Ouders [parents]: Frederick Janss en Grietien Janss; get. [sponsors]: Cornelis Janss, Coenraet Schaep, Aeltien Janns, Grietie Reynierss.

    > The mother of Jan Fredericks and his sister Aeltje (perhaps twins), bp. Aug. 1649, in Brazil was also Grietien, no family name mentioned.

Jan and Aeltge were bpt together on 1 Aug. 1649, and in fact their mother was named fully in the record:

Jan en Aeltge. Ouders: Frederick Janss en Grietien Janns. get.: Jan Dircks, Ariaen Ariaens, Jacob Roeloffs, Grietie Willems, Aeltie Janss.

Seeing Aeltie Janss twice as sponsor (in 1646 and 1649) may indicate that she is a relative of either Frederick or Grietien.

My 6th great grandparents Jacob Corneliszen Stille [became Wortendyke] and Aeltje Fredericks marriage banns on 11 March 1671 at the NY DRCh. "Jacob Corneliszen Stille, Van N. Jorck, en Aeltje Fredericks, Van Brasiel" [NYDC 1:54]. Aeltge and her brother Jan, children of Frederick Janss en Grietien Janns, were bpt together on 1 Aug. 1649 in the Dutch Reformed Church in Brazil. *I need a reference for Aeltge's baptism.

And then I found this record:
"Register of the Persons, whoes Banes of Matrimony are Entred by Consent of the Worshipp. Mayor of this Citty New Yorck, and according to Custome Published in the Church."

"11 March 1671. Jacob Cornelissen Stille borne at New Yorck, with Aeltie fredrix born in Brazill, both residinge at the farmes on this Island, Present the brides Mother the wife of Jan Pietersen of Gouwanes in the behalfe of hurselfe & Sd. husband."
Ref: The Records of New Amsterdam 1653-1674 edited by Berthold Fernow.
Minutes of the Court of Burgomasters and Schepens. [RNA 6:334].

**Do I have this right? Aeltje Fredericks father, Frederick Janss, died ____ and his widow, Grietien Janns, married 'Jan Pietersen of Gouwanes'. Is this the correct marriage record? "Jan Pieterszen Van Husum, Wedr., en Grietje Jans Van Groeningen." Banns: 15 May 1652 [NYDC 1:17]. If this is correct, who is Jan Pieterson and who was his first wife?

***A special thank you to DuCol for the gentle reminders that I was using the wrong reference. By George, I think I've [finally] got it. The RNA records by Fernow do not include the Orphanmaster Records. I confused it with Orphanmaster Records by Berthold Fernow 1655 to 1663.
